Anti-Discrimination Policy — Students, Get in There!
Student and union pressure has forced the consultation process on the draft Policy on the Prevention of Discrimination and Harassment to be reopened (link).
A revised version of the draft Policy has been posted on the University of Ottawa’s website here.
We have a foot in the door.
As indicated on the university website (link) the administration is now accepting criticism of the draft Policy, at least until August 15, 2011.
Students concerned with discrimination at the U of O (link, link, link, link, link) can participate in the consultation process, and should request a response from the administration as to how their input will be included in the next rendition of the draft Policy.
For example, the university appears to be gearing up to implement a highly discriminatory Mental Health Policy to “manage” its students (link). Students should act now and design the new Policy on the Prevention of Discrimination and Harassment to legally prevent such a dystopia from occurring on campus.
Please contact me if you would like to work together to make a submission in the draft Policy consultation process.
