Subject: Oct. 3 Senate Meeting — Agenda Item #1 — Vacant student seats at Senate
Dear President Rock,
As you know, in relation to undergraduate student representation, Senate By-Law No. 1, 2008 states:
IT IS HEREBY DECREED as a By-Law of the Senate of the University of Ottawa as follows:
1. The following persons are members of the Senate of the University of Ottawa pursuant to sub-section (h) of Article 15 (1):
One full-time student elected by his peers in each of the Faculties of the University of Ottawa and one student for the two sections in Law; the method of election and the period of mandate to be determined by resolution of the Senate.
(Link to By-Law)
Item #1 on the Agenda for the Oct. 3, 2011 meeting of the Senate includes a Welcome for new student Senators from the Faculties of Medicine, Arts, and Education.
Unfortunately, elections for these positions by students of the respective Faculties have not taken place. For more information, please see my posts on the matter here.
And see also the September 19 article by La Rotonde, including a report of the September 18 SFUO Board of Administration meeting and of SFUO VP University Liz Kessler’s position on the matter, here.
Please do the necessary to ensure that Senate By-Law No. 1, 2008 is upheld.
