Faculty of Health Sciences Under One Roof: Student Senator asks Dean Denis Prud’homme to take action at Senate
The campaign to consolidate the Faculty of Health Sciences under one roof has been put on the shelf by President Allan Rock:
LINK – Ottawa Citizen – “Dean says U of O president Allan Rock broke promise to make new health sciences building a priority.”
LINK – The Fulcrum – “Open letter to Allan Rock” by Undergraduate Nursing Students’ Association President, Luc Cormier.
LINK – Faculty of Health Sciences Press Review – “Consolidation of the Faculty of Health Sciences under one roof on campus.”
I have asked Faculty of Health Sciences Dean, Denis Prud’homme, to take action on this academic matter at the next meeting of the U of O Senate, on February 6, 2012:
From: Joseph Hickey
To: Denis Prud’homme (Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences)
Date: January 16, 2012
Subject: Senate: Faculty of Health Sciences consolidation project
Dear Dean Denis Prud’homme,
The recent backtracking by the University’s central administration in the project to consolidate the Faculty of Health Sciences into one building on campus (e.g. link) is an academic matter that continues to have negative impact on the university experience of Health Sciences students, including their ability to participate in campus life and to achieve academic excellence.
As such, will you please bring the issue of space consolidation of the Faculty of Health Sciences to the Senate at its next meeting on February 6, 2012? I hope that we can work together to solve this pressing academic problem immediately.
Senate representative for graduate students in the Health Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, and Science.
Cc: Senate Members, concerned community members
